About Us

Doug Durrant is a seasoned homebuilder with over 30 years of experience in Florida and South Carolina. For two decades, Doug built homes from Viera to Vero Beach, Florida, helping thousands of families achieve homeownership. In 2013, he and his wife, Deb, moved to the Lowcountry to continue their passion for homebuilding. Partnering with AR Homes®, they gained access to an in-house architectural team, allowing them to craft custom homes from scratch or refine existing model plans. Inspired by his grandfather’s craftsmanship, Doug pursued Construction Management at BYU, graduating at the top of his class. Now, he brings his refined artistry and leadership to luxury homebuilding. 

With a unique background in health and wellness, Deb has a deep understanding of client lifestyles, and brings her instinctual knowledge to best serve her custom home clients in Beaufort and Jasper counties. An active member of several charities and industry organizations, including Berkeley Hall Charitable Organization, WHOLives.org, former Home Builders Association Board of Directors, and a founding member of the Hilton Head Professional Women in Building Council in South Carolina, Deb exudes a passion for people that can be felt far beyond the homebuilding experience.

Patrick Whitmore is the Vice President of Operations at Blue Ocean Luxury Homes, LLC, bringing decades of experience in residential construction and business management. Growing up in a family-owned home-building business, he developed a hands-on approach that shaped his career. After launching his own construction partnership post-2009, he moved to Savannah in 2014 and joined Blue Ocean Luxury Homes/AR Homes in 2015. His expertise in operations led to a corporate training role before returning as VP of Operations in 2021. Passionate about efficiency and leadership, Patrick continues to drive success through system development and strategic growth. 

As the Director of Sales and Marketing, Rhett brings eight years of experience in the Lowcountry, helping clients turn their visions into reality. His passion for building relationships and understanding customer needs has earned him a reputation as a trusted industry professional. Rhett thrives on creating meaningful connections, ensuring each client’s journey is seamless and rewarding. Beyond work, he cherishes time with his wife and children, enjoys playing music, and stays active through exercise. Committed to both personal and professional growth, Rhett continuously seeks new ways to inspire, lead, and engage those around him, making a lasting impact. 

Jordan brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to AR Homes, having lived in diverse regions across the United States, including Massachusetts, Utah, California, and now South Carolina. A proud graduate of Southern Utah University with a Master’s in Public Administration, Jordan combines academic excellence with a passion for building strong, connected communities. A lifelong sports enthusiast and avid basketball player, Jordan thrives on teamwork and tackling new challenges. When not working, he enjoys staying active, spending time with his lovely wife and two young children, while soaking up the relaxed Lowcountry lifestyle of South Carolina.  

Born and raised in the beautiful Lowcountry, Savanna spent 14 fulfilling years in healthcare, finding joy in caring for others. However, the desire for more family time led her to pursue another passion. With a background in marketing and design, she transitioned into a role that continues to fulfill her love for helping people. Now part of the AR Homes team, Savanna brings expertise in marketing and relationship-building, showcasing the beauty of each home while connecting with families on their journey. Her goal is not just to promote exceptional craftsmanship but to help clients turn their dream homes into reality. 

Mary Jo Whitmore is the Purchasing Manager at Blue Ocean Luxury Homes, LLC, bringing extensive experience in residential construction to streamline operations and drive success. She joined the AR Team in 2022 as a Project Manager, working alongside her husband, Patrick—a partnership that began when he built her first home in 2001. Before moving to Savannah in 2014, she spent a decade in their West Virginia construction business. Passionate about teamwork, integrity, and inspiring others, Mary Jo values family, community service, and the arts. She remains dedicated to growing within the industry and building meaningful personal and professional connections. 

Born and raised in the picturesque mountains of California, Skye developed an appreciation for diverse cultures and craftsmanship. She spent 20 years in Oklahoma raising her family and building a successful career in home construction before discovering her love for the Lowcountry during a vacation. Now, after 2.5 years of calling it home, she brings 17 years of experience across all aspects of residential construction. Her passion lies in guiding customers through the home-building process, turning visions into reality. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, Skye helps create beautifully crafted homes that stand the test of time. 

With over 10 years of industry experience, Leslie combines her passion for construction with a strong financial background. Growing up in a family rooted in the building trade, she developed a deep appreciation for design and craftsmanship. After seven years in accounting, she transitioned to production before returning to financial operations in 2024, bridging creativity and finance. Originally from Vero Beach, Florida, Leslie moved to the Lowcountry in 2013. She and her husband have two daughters and are expecting another in 2025. In her free time, she enjoys home projects, the outdoors, and keeping up with their four huskies. 

With over 10 years of experience in the construction industry, Sandy brings a diverse skill set spanning drywall, painting, and office management. After years of hands-on work, she transitioned into her current role as Warranty Manager at AR Homes, where she has proudly served for the past three years. Passionate about her work and dedicated to her team, Sandy thrives in both collaborative and client-facing environments. As a bilingual professional, she ensures smooth processes and high-quality results. She looks forward to continuing her growth and success with AR Homes, contributing to its legacy of excellence for years to come. 

A Hilton Head Island native, Joy brings over 15 years in tourism and three in custom home construction. With a background in owner services, digital marketing, and PR, she now supports AR Homes by blending local insight with a passion for the Lowcountry. Joy works closely with Project Managers and Purchasing, contributing across operations and client services. Outside work, she enjoys football, MotoGP, and time with her husband, son, three bonus daughters, and two dogs on Lady’s Island. A dedicated advocate for survivors of intimate partner violence, she volunteers with Hopeful Horizons to raise awareness across the community and state. 

With 23 years of experience in the construction industry, Shane is a dedicated and goal-oriented Construction Manager committed to delivering high-quality projects. His passion for excellence and teamwork ensures every build is completed with care and precision. Beyond his professional life, he has been happily married for 24 years and is a proud father of four—three sons and one daughter. He values family, friendships, and the outdoors, finding joy in camping, fishing, and hunting. Whether at work or in nature, Shane embraces challenges with dedication and a strong sense of purpose. 

Kevin Hughes is a Senior Construction Manager with over seven years of experience overseeing onsite supervision from the first phase to project completion. Inspired by his father, he pursued a career in construction and takes great pride in completing buildings that people call home. With a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic, Kevin ensures smooth project execution. Outside of work, he enjoys watching Gold Rush and dining at Chatman’s BBQ. His dream vacation is a trip to Hawaii. Dedicated to continuous improvement, Kevin is always looking for ways to refine his skills and contribute to his team. 

Carlos Sanchez Castillo was born in North Carolina but considers Savannah his hometown. He’s been in the construction industry since age 14, starting in his family’s tiling business. By day, Carlos works for AR Homes; by night, he attends school to earn his associate degree in Construction Management. He’s also proudly serving his fifth year in the Marine Corps Reserves. With aspirations of obtaining his general contractor license and starting his own company, Carlos is always working toward the next goal. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing in local soccer leagues, watching horror films, documentaries, and Paris Saint-Germain soccer. 

Tyler is newer to the construction industry and recently marked his first year with AR Homes. Eager to grow within the company, he looks forward to one day managing his own home builds and contributing to the team’s continued success and growth. Tyler values time spent with friends and family, whether it’s out on the water or enjoying a night out. A true outdoorsman, he takes pride in fishing and hunting across the scenic woods and waterways of South Carolina. With a strong work ethic and passion for learning, Tyler is excited for what the future holds in his construction journey.
